American Chamber of Commerce of Suriname

AmCham Suriname is an association founded in 2002 at the initiative of the then US Ambassador to Suriname, Daniel Johnson. Our goal is to simplify and promote business in Suriname, enhancing collaboration between national and international companies. Central to our mission is the expansion of partnerships with businesses active in both Suriname and the USA. Guided by good governance principles aligned with US standards, our governance structure comprises a daily board consisting of Ms. Anuskha Sonai - Creative Techhub Caribbean (President), Mr. Timothy Mendonca - EAG Airport (Treasurer), Mr. Dimitri Lemmer - CDWESR (Secretary). This daily board reports to a larger board featuring representatives from Newmont, VSH United, Chevron, Bloem Consultancy, APA Suriname, Courtyard by Marriott, Traymore Port, the US Embassy in Suriname, and Asco Logistics.

Dear AmCham SR members and relations,

As a passionate advocate for innovation and forward-thinking leadership, I am honored to serve as the newly-elected President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Suriname, embarking on a journey of growth and transformation.

As we embark on this new chapter, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for us to foster stronger ties between Suriname and the United States, and to promote business growth and innovation within our vibrant community.

Together, we can create a conducive environment for investment, entrepreneurship, and economic development. I look forward to working collaboratively with each of you, leveraging our collective expertise and resources, to drive meaningful impact and create value for our members and stakeholders. Let us embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, with a shared vision of fostering growth, facilitating trade, and championing the interests of our esteemed members.

In my role as President, I am committed to representing AmCham SR with integrity and ensuring that we are the strongest and most respected foreign business association in Suriname. Additionally, I will tirelessly advocate for our members' collective needs, strengthening our membership base and amplifying our chamber's voice.

I would like to take a moment to acknowledge and applaud the remarkable achievements of my immediate predecessors on the AmCham SR board. Their dedication and contributions have paved the way for our chamber's success, and I am grateful for their invaluable leadership.
